If you type a lower-case ASCII charactor from a limited set (dhlmoqrwz), several lines of formatted ASCII numbers are sent from the scanner. This looks like engineering debugging output rather than a customer feature. The sub-processor appears to be a NXP LPC4370. The firmware update for BCD436HP, BCD536HP, SDS200, and SDS100 scanners are done with the Sentinel software. The micro can be used to power only. The mini powers and will charge simultaneously if enabled. I have heard from other sources besides those posting on this thread that the internal GPS and associated hardware mod works great. I can't wait until mine is returned. SDS100E is DIFFERENT than SDS100 - and firmware branch is different also. I am well aware that the SDS100E version is different that the USA SDS100 version. I never said, nor inferred in any way that they are the same. The IC-R30 far outperformed the SDS100 and rarely stopped, opened squelch without good clear voice traffic. However, after a couple lengthy trips to Uniden Repair, I was given a factory refurbished unit as a replacement to my original. The factory refurb unit exhibits none of the original VHF/UHF issues.The refurb unit is actually better than my x36 ...The headphone jack on the sds100 has the lowest output of any scanner I have ever had. I have had lots of scanners in my time. The old scanners worked fine with a amplified speaker plugged in the headphone jack. Since the introduction of the BC250D scanner Uniden has used a standardized 12-digit serial number protocol as follows: 383Z88123456. It is known that the BC780XLT did not use this serial number protocol so it was likely instituted about 2001 with the follow up BC785D and BC250D which did. If this test still has the "Low Voltage" problem then try using the Mini-USB cable and power USB power supply that came with the SDS100 (without the GPS). If that works, then there may be a problem with the Uniden BC-UTGC cable. If this test still has the problem then there may be something wrong with the SDS100 itself.The REM-820S is an SMA mount designed specifically for use with the SDS100. It will fully seat on the scanner, and has an o-ring to maintain the weather resistance of the scanner. The REM-800B is the same antenna, but with a BNC mount. If you type a lower-case ASCII charactor from a limited set (dhlmoqrwz), several lines of formatted ASCII numbers are sent from the scanner. This looks like engineering debugging output rather than a customer feature. The sub-processor appears to be a NXP LPC4370. I bought my SDS100 new from zipscanner.com on April 9th, 2020 (Less than two months ago). Arrived on time, in new condition, all was well. Functionality of this scanner is fantastic.
